Rubrica Autograph Red 2019

Viticulture and Winemaking

From vines planted in 2001 and 2002, the limestone soils allow for good water retention. This wine is a blend of 61% Alicante Bouschet and 39% Touriga Nacional. The hand-picked grapes were selected on a sorting table then partially destemmed and crushed. Fermentation took place in stainless steel lagares (small open fermenters). Malolactic fermentation was followed by ageing in a mix of new, 2 and 3 year old French oak barrels for 12 months.

Tasting and Serving

A dazzling intense ruby colour leads to an aromatic profile that unfurls in the glass. Complex layers of dark fruit and spices fill the nose. On the palate the refreshing acidity and firm tannins give the wine harmonious structure. A fulfilling multi-faceted fruit profile leaves us with a long, pleasant and elegant finish. Pair this with grilled meats and game dishes and fine cheeses.
